In honor of the 45th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The King, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) commemorated the 2nd National Anti-Corruption Day on the theme “Empowering Youth to Champion Integrity: Building a Corruption-Free Bhutan,” on 21 February 2025.
Building on the momentum since the International Anti-Corruption Day on 9 December 2024 culminating in the observance of the 2nd National Anti-Corruption Day, a series of targeted programs aimed at raising awareness, instilling ethical values, and empowering individuals to actively participate in the fight against corruption were implemented. These programs sought to engage various sectors, ensuring inclusivity and meaningful participation across all levels of society.
Some of the major highlights of the commemorative activities included:
1. Session in the Scouts Leadership Program in Gelephu and S/Jongkhar on 26 December 2024;
2. Training of trainers to representatives of TVET institutes in Gelephu on 26 & 27 December 2024;
3. Session with contractors in collaboration with the BCTA, scheduled from 23-31 December 2024, in Thimphu;
4. Training of trainers to Scouts secretary on DAMTSI activities in Phuntsholing from 5-9 January 2025;
5. Session with Pride Bhutan in Thimphu on 27 January 2025;
6. Coordinators workshop with Integrity Club Coordinators in Phuntsholing from 2-4 February 2025;
7. Session with the youth in the first year of service in Thimphu on 14 & 17 February 2025;
8. Marathon on the theme “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind” in collaboration with the RCSC in Thimphu, and Dzongkhag Administration in Trashigang, Phuentsholing and Bumthang on 15 February 2025;
9. Session with the students of GCIT, Thimphu on 16 February 2025;
10. Panel Discussion on “Empowering Youth to Champion Integrity: Building a Corruption-Free Bhutan” in the BBS on 19 February 2025;
11. Virtual Comic Strip Competition on 21 February 2025;
12. Cultural performance on the ACC theme song in collaboration with Jigme Losel Primary School on 21 February 2025; and
13. Launch of Evaluation Report on the DAMTSI program in ECCD on 21 February 2025 in Trashigang.
Each of these initiatives contributed to our collective mission of fostering a culture of integrity, civic responsibility, and ethical governance. By reaching a broad spectrum of stakeholders, from students and professionals to marginalized communities, the programs ensured meaningful engagement and widespread awareness.
As we commemorate this milestone, the ACC extends its heartfelt gratitude to every individual that contributed to the success of the 2nd National Anti-Corruption Day. It is through our collective efforts that we have come this far, and it is only by enhancing these efforts that we can build a just, fair, and transparent society. As we honor His Majesty The King’s legacy, we reaffirm our unwavering dedication to combat corruption and build a corruption-free society.
Building on the momentum, the post event includes sessions for schools with Integrity Club in Trashigang, Trashiyangtse, and Trongsa including Sherubtse College, Kanglung and National Institute for Zorig Chusum, Trashiyangtse from 24 – 27 February, 2025 as follows:
1. Session with the students of Radhi Central School on 24 February 2025;
2. Session with the students of Sherubtse College, Kanglung on 24 February 2025;
3. Session with the trainees of National Institute for Zorig Chusum, Trashiyangtse on 25 February 2025;
4. Session with the students of Tsenkharla Central School on 25 February 2025;
5. Session with the students of Yadhi Central School on 26 February 2025; and
6. Session with the students of Tsangkha Central School on 27 February 2025.
