The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched the exclusive social media accounts Juenlam ACC on WeChat and WhatsApp for reporting corruption offences. The launch, part of an in-house event today, was also an opportunity to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion of the Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The King.
Ever since the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2006, complaints of corruption offences have been one of the primary sources of information for initiating investigations and anti-corruption remedial measures in the country. As per Section 25 subsection 1(f) of Anti-Corruption Act of Bhutan (ACAB) 2011 and the Principles of Accessibility and Responsiveness under Complaint Management Policy and Procedures, the ACC has adopted various corruption reporting modes like Walk-in, Telephone, Post, Fax and Webmail.
Considering the importance of keeping complaints services uninterrupted during the pandemic situation, the ACC launched two mobile numbers 17123412 and 17123413 on 4 January 2021 to offer more substitutes for reporting incidences of corruption by the public. Given the reach and popularity of social media among the general public, the social media accounts are expected to complement the existing modes for reporting corruption offences.
We would also like to reassure that the security features have been provided to ensure confidentiality as well as proper processing and handling of any complaints lodged.
The enhanced accessibility on reporting corruption offences is to further facilitate and reinforce the Constitutional responsibility in upholding justice and fighting corruption.
“…there is no room for corruption – it is as simple as that, not now and not in the future.”
His Majesty The King (Then HRH The Crown Prince), Trashi Yangtse, 2005
