Forging linkage with the Institute of Science of Mind of Zhung Dratshang

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Science of Mind (ISM), Zhung Dratshang on 13thย December 2018 at the ACC conference hall. The Chairperson of the ACC and President of the ISM, committing to support each other in driving mandates of respective organizations, signed the MoU in witness of officials from both the parties.

The ACC as a constitutional body has the mandate to take necessary steps to prevent, educate and investigate all allegations of corrupt practices, whether reported or otherwise under the Anti-Corruption Act of Bhutan 2011 (ACAB 2011). Since its establishment, the ACC with a view to enhance cooperation and collaboration to prevent and combat corruption, conscious efforts were made in strengthening linkages with national as well as the regional and international counterparts. On the other hand, as enshrined under the Article 3 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2008, the ISM was established in 2014 under the purview of Zhung Dratshang to promote the principles and values of peace, non-violence, compassion and tolerance.

In this regard, the ACC in collaboration with the ISM initiated joint awareness and thematic sessions/programs since September 2018. Such joint awareness programs aims to inform the participants on the two aspects of mind in relation to ethical behavior besides advocacy on anti-corruption preventive measures/tools.

The MoU is expected to further strengthen partnership between the two parties by setting a clear framework of cooperation and assistance in bringing positive behavioral change and building awakened citizenry through awareness programs, hence articulating zero tolerance to corruption.

As of date, the ACC have signed 23 MoUs with nation stakeholders.ย Click here for theย copy of the MOU.
