Assessment of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Asia Pacific

On 25 October 2017, Commissioner Karma Damcho Nidup accompanied by an Officer from the Anti-Corruption Commission attended the presentation of findings of the “Regional Synthesis of the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) Strengthening Initiative for Asia” organized by Transparency International (TI) at Bangkok. The synthesis report presents the major findings of country-level studies initiated by TI on ACAs of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka for the period 2013-2015.

The meeting was also attended by Chairperson and Commissioners from ACC in Bangladesh and Maldives, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Pakistan, Commission to Investigate Allegation of Bribery and Corruption (CIABOC) in Sri Lanka and officials from TI. The meeting besides the presentation provided opportunity to update on the latest developments and also discuss opportunities for collaboration between public agencies and CSOs to enhance effectiveness of ACAs. 

The assessment of ACC Bhutan was conducted between June and August 2015 by the TI in collaboration with Bhutan Transparency Initiative and launched in December, 2015. The report assessed and benchmarked the capacity and effectiveness of ACC, also identifying gaps and areas of opportunities.
