On 19 November 2024, 11 justice institutions came together in launching the Justice Sector Strategic Plan 2024 – 2029 (JSSP II). Her Royal Highness Ashi Sonam Dechan Wangchuck, the President of Bhutan National Legal Institute, graced the launching ceremony.
Building on the achievements of Justice Sector Strategic Plan 2018 – 2023 (JSSP I), the JSSP II aims to reduce socio-economic disparities, ensuring justice for all, particularly marginalized and vulnerable groups.
The 11 justice institutions viz. the Royal Court of Justice, Office of the Attorney General, Anti-Corruption Commission, Royal Bhutan Police, Bhutan National Legal Institute, Legal Aid Center, National Commission for Women and Children, Bar Council, Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution Center, and The PEMA Secretariat along with other key stakeholders will collaborate in achieving these goals.
The JSSP II was developed by Justice Sector Working Committee formed under the aegis of JSSP I in collaboration with financial support from the Royal Government of Bhutan and development partners. This forward-looking plan envisions a justice sector that embodies fairness, inclusivity, and resilience, ensuring access to justice for all Bhutanese.
