Conference of the States Parties

Two-member delegation led by Aum Kinley Yangzom, Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption Commission is attending the 8th Session of Conference of the States Parties (CoSP) to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The CoSP commenced from 16th and will end on 20th December 2019.

Conference of the States Parties has been established in pursuant to article 63 of the UNCAC, to improve the capacity of and cooperation between States Parties, to achieve the objectives set forth in the UNCAC and to promote and review its implementation.

The 8th Session of the CoSP will be concentrating on key issues regarding the review of the implementation of the UNCAC, asset recovery, international cooperation, prevention and technical assistance. In keeping with past practice, the general discussion of the CoSP will serve as an opportunity for high-level representatives to address the COSP and provide guidance for its deliberations and the achievement of its objectives. The CoSP will also deliberate on the progress of the work done by the Implementation Review Group and the working groups on asset recovery, prevention and international cooperation in the year 2018 and 2019.

The delegation also attended the pre-CoSP meeting on strengthening cooperation between Anti-Corruption Authorities and Supreme Audit Institutions from 14th-15th December 2015 towards Effective Prevention and Detection of Corruption Offences. 

The delegation also attended the meeting on International Partnership Against Corruption in Sport (IPACS) which was first launched in the year 2017. The meeting was held to introduce the 4 task forces established under the IPACS. During the meeting, IPACS committed to work towards fighting corruption in sport so that the corruption does not overshadow the beauty of the sports.
