Commemorating the International Anti-Corruption Day 2022

Annually, on 9 December, Bhutan joins the international community to observe the International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD). The international theme for IACD is ‘UNCAC at 20: Uniting the World Against Corruption’ which seeks to highlight that tackling corruption is the right and responsibility of everyone and that only through cooperation and the involvement of each and every individual and institution can overcome the negative impact of corruption.

Bhutan has begun its transformative journey with ‘BHUTAN Believe’ inspiring every Bhutanese to believe that Bhutan can transform and reach new heights. Therefore, besides the international IACD theme, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) developed national theme ‘BHUTAN Believe with Integrity to rededicate and remind on our rights and responsibilities as a Bhutanese to achieve ‘BHUTAN Believe’ and the national goals by ensuring a society infused with ethics and integrity.

The ACC commemorated the IACD through various activities in social media platforms, by involving schools with Integrity Club to highlight the importance of the Day, and with a modest in-person commemoration in the ACC’s office among ACC officials. As the main program of the day, the e-Learning course on Ethics and Integrity for Corporate Employees geared towards enhancing ethical culture in the public service was launched. The IACD provides an opportunity for every individual to reflect and rededicate ourselves to unite against corruption.
