ACC Celebrates 20th Foundation Day

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) commemorated its 20th Foundation Day on 31 December 2025 under the theme “Celebrating 20 Years of Our Shared Journey – Grateful for the Past, Inspired by the Road Ahead.”

This year marks two decades since the establishment of the ACC through the Royal Kasho of His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo on 31 December 2005. Accordingly, the commemoration of the past two ACC Foundation Days was centered on observing the 70thBirth Anniversary of His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo. As part of this observance, the event built upon the Founder’s Gallery, which was launched during the previous ACC Foundation Day. This year, the Gallery was further enhanced with the unveiling of the Royal Kasho, honoring the profound foresight and wisdom of His Majesty in establishing the ACC as a Constitutional Office at a defining moment when Bhutan was preparing for its transition to a Democratic Constitutional Monarchy.

The commemoration was graced by the presence of Hon’ble members of past Commissions, offering reflections on the ACC’s institutional journey marked by resilience, valour, and an unwavering commitment to integrity. Expressing gratitude to both past and present contributors who have shaped the Commission, the Chairperson underscored the responsibility of the current generation of staff to carry forward this legacy by further strengthening integrity systems and elevating Bhutan’s national and international anti-corruption standing to the top ten and beyond. In this regard, the Chairperson called upon all staff, together with relevant stakeholders, to continue rendering steadfast support in reinforcing public trust and good governance.

The Hon’ble Auditor General of the Royal Audit Authority, a former Commissioner during the Second and Third Commission, also joined the celebration and shared reflections on the Commission’s evolution and its critical role in safeguarding ethical governance. The Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of Bhutan, who previously served as Chairperson during the Third Commission, expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to have served the ACC and contributed to nation building through the advancement of integrity. The occasion was further enriched by the presence of Aum Karma Damchoe Nidup, former Commissioner of the Second Commission, symbolizing continuity, institutional memory, and the collective commitment of past and present leadership.

The programme also included the Roll Call of Honour towards recognizing institutional longevity, awarding of staff promotions and the rejuvenation of the Integrity Tree through an integrity pledge, reaffirming the ACC’s resolve to uphold integrity and accountability in service of the nation.
