Engagement with local businesses in GMC for ‘Integrity in Business’

“Guided by core Bhutanese values like loyalty and integrity, we will create a city that is free of corruption, drugs, and crime – one that offers both the infrastructure and the governance needed for long-term prosperity.”

In line with the profound Royal Vision for the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) initiated an awareness and capacity-building program for the local community of GMC, engaging both public and private sector stakeholders.

The first sessions, held on 27 and 28 August 2025, were designed to strengthen integrity in business sectors vital to the city’s growth and development. On the first day, representatives of 31 business establishments from Foreign Worker Recruitment Agents, Diagnostic Centers and Clearing & Forwarding Agents participated, while the second day brought together 23 contracting firms from Class A and B categories.

The session underscored the crucial role of businesses in realising the Royal Vision of GMC as a vibrant economic hub and a global model of trust, good governance, and mindful prosperity. The interactions centered around risk-based mitigation interventions required to promote integrity and anti-corruption compliance, while also emphasising the need to build robust ethical operations aligned with evolving business modalities, as well as national and international standards.

The program marks the beginning of a series of awareness initiatives to reinforce the country’s collective commitment to building a GMC rooted in integrity.
