CSO-ACC Partnership Program-9th December 2011

A partnership program between the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was organized on 9th December 2011 coinciding with the International Anti-Corruption Day at Hotel Phuntsho Pelri. Altogether 21 representatives from 17 CSOs attended the program. ACC team was led by the Chairperson.
 
The program was organized with an objective to foster strategic partnership between the ACC and the CSOs in combating corruption. As representatives of the civil society, CSOs have an important role to promote and strengthen transparency, accountability and integrity in the system. The message was to “Refrain, Resist and Report Corruption”.
 
ACC presented on the general scenario of corruption in Bhutan and the roles played by CSOs including some notable examples in combating corruption in other parts of the world.
 
In ensuring sustained cooperation and collaboration, 4 CSOs namely: Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO), Bhutan Centre for Media and Democracy (BCMD), Respect, Educate, Nurture, and Empower Women (RENEW) and Tarayana signed MoU with the ACC. http://www.kuenselonline.com/2011/?p=22700
