Under the Implementation Review Mechanism (IRM) of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), States Parties undergo a peer-review process to assess their implementation of the Convention, identify good practices and challenges, and strengthen international cooperation. Each country is reviewed by experts from two other States Parties, with the process facilitated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
A three-member delegation from the Anti-Corruption Commission, led by a Commissioner, participated in the country visit to Riga, Latvia, from 6–8 October 2026, as part of the ongoing review of Latvia’s implementation of the UNCAC. Bhutan is reviewing Latvia along with Estonia.
On 9 October 2026, the Bhutanese delegation also held a bilateral meeting with Latvia’s Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB). The experience-sharing session focused on Latvia’s practices in whistleblower protection, conflict-of-interest management, corruption prevention and education, and the use of various anti-corruption tools.
