A delegation, led by the Director of the Department of Professional Support, Anti-Corruption Commission of Bhutan, is participating in the Second Resumed Sixteenth Session of the Implementation Review Group (IRG). The IRG, as a subsidiary body of the Conference of States Parties, is mandated to oversee the review mechanism of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), identify challenges and good practices, and assess technical assistance needs to ensure its effective implementation.
At the session, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime presented the implementation status of the UNCAC, followed by reports from State Parties on progress made in implementing recommendations outlined in their respective Executive Summaries and Country Review Reports.
In the subsequent days, the delegation will also take part in the Nineteenth Session of the Working Group on Asset Recovery and the Fourteenth Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Meeting on International Cooperation under the UNCAC. These forums will deliberate on the challenges encountered and progress achieved in asset recovery and international cooperation, with a view to strengthening global efforts in combating corruption.
